2.5GbE ports for AP

Please develop an AP with 2.5GbE POE port.

I believe the upcoming WiFi 7 AP is supposed to support running up to 10Gb. There’s been some discussion on the live streams a few times but here’s a more recent example in the context of power requirements:

Also want a 8 port switch with 2.5Gbps ports.

plus two SFP+ at the minimum.

Currently running another vendor with similar configuration

8 copper ports all capable of 2.5g with two sfp+

And can fit in the rack mount

That’s the only downside with the current vendor I have in place, but I’d prefer to not burn a full RU for this. It would be nice if they kept a small enough foot print to horizontally stack two per 1RU with a bracket. But if they were to maintain the same footprint, the SFP’s would have to be rear slotted which could make access a pain.

8 forward facing copper, 2 SFP cages on the rear. Slotted along the top for heat dissipation.

Yeah, all those things together seem like a tough needle to thread right now. I suppose it could be an even lower port count switch but then it would only be deployed in very specific circumstances. But we’re just coming up with a bit of a whishlist here, I suppose :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

My wish list is an S20.

20 port switch - 16 Copper, 4 SFP/SFP+

All copper ports GbE capable. Eight supporting 2.5GbE, Four supporting 10GbE.

16 PoE ports total - All 16 ports PoE+ capable, with two of the 16 supporting PoE++.
Of the 16 PoE ports, eight PoE ports would support 2.5G speeds, two for 10G copper operating at PoE++

2 Rear fans.
