Switch (wired) devices

I am testing a possible migration from Aruba
InstantOn to Alta. Have been playing and reading about AP6-Pro and an S8-POE. So far easy installation. Nice management UX.

Question on devices associated to the switch (wired devices) and IPs. Whereas my AP shows the wireless devices count and their IP info, type, etc, the Switch doesn’t show a devices count and no IPs (with the exception of my upstream Firewall/Router. All are DHCP based devices.

I read that this wasn’t supported, but then was added. I’m on the latest firmware. Am I missing something?

Is everything wired through the S8 or do you have other switches?

Anything connected to my S8 switches shows IPs but my main Aruba switch which I haven’t swapped out yet for Alta Labs only shows the devices and not the IPs.

I actually did a full swap of the switches, so the setup is only the Alta switch.

A wireless device has IP’s; wired devices do not.

The Aruba AP and the TV are hardwired.

Welcome, are these wired devices placed into a different VLAN than the default native VLAN 1?

Thank you. I only have VLAN 1 as the native VLAN. I do have a second SSID in a tagged VLAN, but not in use. It’s a pretty straightforward setup.

@lb-alta Welcome to the community! Great to have you here. Also, thanks for giving us a shot!

Based on your screenshots it looks like you’re using our mobile app. Our mobile dev team is working hard to bring IP addresses in on hardwired devices to our switches as soon as possible. At present they’re not available.

If you don’t mind jumping on the web interface (manage.alta.inc) you will see IP address for wired devices.

Please take a look and let us know if you have any more questions!

Thanks @Alta-Chase . You are correct, I was checking on the mobile app.
However, it is the same behavior on the Web interface, hence my posting here.

Here’s a screenshot (filtered on Wired). You can see:

  • Disconnected Aruba-AP22
  • Family Room TV (off now)
  • Ooma phone device on port 6 (No IP listed, yet expected)
  • Another decomissioned AP22
  • SonosNet, connected via a single wired connection on Port 8 from one of the speakers (No IP listed, yet expected)
  • The Firewalla upstream device (the only one with an IP listed)

@lb-alta Ah. I see. I missed the count request as well. That is not something we have currently, but its on our roadmap. Does not having a connected device count available for our switches keep you from wanting to migrate to Alta Labs? Or is knowing that its something we are working on and will have out soon sufficient?

@Alta-Chase Nothing is a deal breaker for now  Continue testing here…

Can you confirm, so IP addresses and device count are both not supported yet?
