Running into an issue with a few S8 switches constantly rebooting when getting too hot. These switched are sitting on top of a desk, not enclosed in anything. Once the switch hits about 122 degrees, it reboots. Its doing this about every 20-25 min. Switches are running 2.3s firmware. This is happening at multiple sites. Anyone else experience this?
Is anything stacked on it? I had that issue once when i had two of them stacked.
I’ve had this happen with my S8s and yes, it happens right around that temperature. It’s very consistent. Unfortunately I’m not sure there’s much you can do other than try to keep them cooler. The data sheet specifies that the max operating temp is 122F.
It would be best to reach out to support and offer MAC addresses so they can do thorough troubleshooting, to confirm/deny if this is a thermal issue. If you are reading the temperature in the UI, 122 F is well under maximum operating temperature - they should function properly until 190 F or so, according to the temp in the UI.
good to know, thank you
Hi Jeff, we do have a couple tickets open regarding the issue, and once the temps stay below 122 the switches have stayed up and have not rebooted once
How old are the tickets? There was an instability that was resolved in 2.3q that was misattributed to thermal issues.
