Project Idea: Alta Labs Remote Config Backup

Hi All!

This is my first time on the forums! for a short intro I’m an I.T Professional and a homelaber, I’m always a student of the game and I think I found the perfect platform for me.

I was naturally drawn to the Alta Labs products once I found out the same people running Alta are industry professionals that contributed to Pfsense and Opensense project! My respects to the Alta Labs team.

I know this isn’t natively supported but I can’t stop my brain from wanting to tinker and push the capabilities of Route 10. I just wanted to get some input on this project. I believe in the project so much that out of all the products on the market and even the self hosted solutions I needed to try this on the route 10. The specs are mind blowing for the price point and I wanted to support the entire project.

My Theory:

Since the Route 10 is built on BusyBox this means that I can technically use wget to download and unzip and install rclone. I know this isn’t natively supported but the idea is that I want to mess around with the underlying suricata ids/ips config that runs Alta Labs IPS. The idea is that I want to find a way to tie in these events with Wazuh.

In theory this can work, maybe! but that’s the point I want to try this but I don’t know of any documentation that would allow me to recovery to a fresh factory state if I manage to botch this project.

What do you think team?
