Problem with loadbalancing

i just bought my route10 and try it.. all are good except the loadbalancing..its like all my traffic only go in my main isp while my second isp is just like in standby mode.. the metric equal but still nothing happen i change the metric of the second isp to 2 and return it to 1…traffic goes on but kind of low its like 95% to main isp and 5% to 2nd isp.. then comeback to like standby mode again

Hello Havocrecasa!

The Route10 load-balances new connections (sockets), not raw speed. Once a connection starts on an ISP, it sticks to it. Your “main ISP” gets most traffic because your existing connections stay there, and only new ones are distributed.

This behavior is normal to keep the integrity of already active connections.

then its just like failover than loadbalancing… because even you set metric and weight you still dont have control were the traffic go..

In a failover configuration, the primary WAN will be active (lowest metric). The secondary WAN will not pass traffic at all.

This load-balancing configuration will use both WAN uplinks, but the Route10 will need to maintain certain sessions. As maintaining sessions is necessary for sensitive traffic like VoIP, gaming, banking, etc.

Let’s say you start a download on one device, the session is created and routed through one of the WANs. So, now one of your WANs is passing significantly more traffic than the other. Overtime, that device or any other device may use the other WAN for their own new sessions, but both WANs will always be available for traffic to hop onto.

main isp

2nd isp

these is my setup as you can see main isp almost have all the load while 2nd isp almost dont have load..which is on same metric my main isp has 800mbps while 2nd have 300mbps.. it should be atlist get some traffic to balance..

It is not about traffic. It balancing connections not speed - check it (for example run speedtest twice to another isp in same time). I tested it in my setup and works fine, my second isp have bigger latency, so better is active-backup for me.

both my isp has good latency while main isp has more bandwidth

isp main: 800

set limit to 700

second isp: 300

set limit to 250

troubleshoot i did

change metric of second isp

disable acceleration

reboot route10

remove and return 2nd isp

the last thing i still dont do is to reset route 10

as you can see main isp have all the dl and ul
