Another Route10 ISP Speed Thread

Hello,

I have read all the speed related threads here, on Reddit, google, etc. I have done the settings with HW Acceleration and yet am still struggling to get close to my 5Gb/5Gb speeds.

Here is the CLI speedtest:

ISP: Google Fiber
Idle Latency: 1.18 ms (jitter: 0.17ms, low: 0.98ms, high: 1.25ms)
Download: 1706.02 Mbps (data used: 1.8 GB)
1.56 ms (jitter: 0.87ms, low: 1.15ms, high: 8.94ms)
Upload: 4016.77 Mbps (data used: 2.2 GB)
2.43 ms (jitter: 2.21ms, low: 1.22ms, high: 19.30ms)
Packet Loss: 0.0%

When I remove my Route10 and use my old setup (TPLink BE85), I get 5.69Gb/5.42Gb.

Any new thoughts or suggestions on this?

Thanks.

Hi , you may check on the WAN port that the “Speed” setup is on “Auto”. By default is on “Default” which could limit the bandwidth

Thanks. It was set on 10Gbps so I tried Auto. No change. I have also tried to adjust the download and upload limits to the varying options with no change. I have tried the CAKE and Bufferbloat settings as well but alas no change.

If you are still not having any luck, please reach out to support or send me an invite to your site (I’ll DM you my details). We’d be happy to take a closer look here.

Hi James. Please DM me. I am still having issues with speed.

@jprankin993 Please test again and let me know if its improved. I’ve removed the traffic shaping limits on your primary WAN and am seeing ~5.7Gbps up/down.

Hi James. Network is functioning but I cannot log in to it right now.

OK, logged in. Now I need to know what you changed!!!

ISP: Google Fiber Idle Latency: 1.14 ms (jitter: 0.11ms, low: 1.08ms, high: 1.25ms)
Download: 5760.54 Mbps (data used: 2.8 GB)
1.99 ms (jitter: 0.17ms, low: 1.33ms, high: 2.30ms)
Upload: 5741.08 Mbps (data used: 6.8 GB)
2.46 ms (jitter: 0.25ms, low: 1.33ms, high: 2.90ms)
Packet Loss: 0.0%

I have the same thing going on. ISP is 2000Mbps/200. My wired PC will hit 22200 Mbps but the test in the Alta UI hits 800.

Clearly it’s able to pass more speed than that as the my desktop is proof of that.

What settings did you change?

If I’m reading his post right, it sounds like @Alta-James is talking about these settings:

@jmszuch is correct. I removed the traffic shaping on the WAN connection profile. With such high WAN speeds, it looks like it was doing more harm than good.

@ogroar I would double check your speeds with another speedtest as multigig connections can currently be a bit hit or miss on the built-in speedtest (we’re working on improving this). If you are still seeing lower than expected speeds, please reach out to support or feel free to send me a DM. I’d be happy to take a peek!
